Endoscopy is a medical procedure to examine the inside of the body using an endoscope, a thin, flexible tube with a light and camera. It's used to diagnose, treat, and sometimes perform surgery for various conditions affecting internal organs like the digestive tract, by viewing them directly through a natural body opening or a small cut. Endoscopy helps identify diseases, take tissue samples (biopsies), remove growths, stop bleeding, and even treat certain conditions.

A sigmoidoscopy is a medical test that uses a thin, flexible tube with a camera to examine the lower part of the large intestine, specifically the rectum and sigmoid colon. The procedure, called a sigmoidoscope, helps to detect and diagnose conditions like colorectal polyps and cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcers, and diverticula.
