UGI ENDOSCOPY

Endoscopy is a medical procedure to examine the inside of the body using an endoscope, a thin, flexible tube with a light and camera. It's used to diagnose, treat, and sometimes perform surgery for various conditions affecting internal organs like the digestive tract, by viewing them directly through a natural body opening or a small cut. Endoscopy helps identify diseases, take tissue samples (biopsies), remove growths, stop bleeding, and even treat certain conditions.

SIGMOIDOSCOPY

A sigmoidoscopy is a medical test that uses a thin, flexible tube with a camera to examine the lower part of the large intestine, specifically the rectum and sigmoid colon. The procedure, called a sigmoidoscope, helps to detect and diagnose conditions like colorectal polyps and cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcers, and diverticula. Preparation involves a clear liquid diet and bowel cleansing, and it can be done with or without mild sedation.

COLONOSCOPY

A colonoscopy is a medical procedure where a doctor uses a long, flexible tube with a camera (a colonoscope) to examine the lining of the large intestine (colon) and rectum for abnormalities like polyps, ulcers, or cancer. It is performed to diagnose and monitor conditions and can also be used to remove polyps or take tissue samples (biopsies). During the procedure, a sedative is usually given to promote relaxation and reduce discomfort, and afterward, you may feel bloated or gassy.

UGI BANDING

UGI banding, or endoscopic variceal banding (also known as endoscopic band ligation), is a minimally invasive procedure to treat abnormal, enlarged veins in the esophagus called esophageal varices. Doctor uses an endoscope to place small rubber bands around these veins, cutting off their blood supply and causing them to eventually heal. This procedure helps prevent bleeding from esophageal varices, which is a serious complication, often related to liver disease.

FIBRO-SCAN

A FibroScan is a non-invasive ultrasound-based test that measures liver stiffness to assess for fibrosis (scarring) and steatosis (fat content), providing a painless alternative to a liver biopsy. The procedure uses a special probe that sends sound waves into the liver, and the speed at which they bounce back indicates the liver's hardness. Results are expressed in kilopascals (kPa) and help doctors diagnose and monitor chronic liver diseases such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

EEG (Electroencephalogram)

An EEG (Electroencephalogram) is a safe, non-invasive medical test that records the brain's electrical activity using electrodes placed on the scalp to detect abnormal brain wave patterns, helping to diagnose conditions like epilepsy, sleep disorders, and other brain issues. During the test, electrodes are attached with gel and wires connect to a machine that translates the electrical signals into wavy lines on a monitor. The process may involve lying still, with eyes open or closed, and sometimes includes prompts to breathe deeply or look at a flashing light.
